1. VENICE BEACH
A Blue Wave Certified Beach, Venice Beach is located in Venice, Florida. Sarasota County runs the concession area along with the beach, despite being located in Venice. Parking is free and there are lifeguards on duty. Parking is never a problem, and there are never any crowds at the beach.


The Perfect Surrounding
Venice Beach also provides views of the Venice Public Fishing Pier, making it a good place to spot dolphins and shorebirds. Nests of marine turtles can be found along the beaches of Venice between May and October. Venetian beaches aren’t crowded at all. This is a beautiful beach with a very friendly environment. During the evening, we were greeted by breathtaking sunsets. The sunset is a very special time for a community to come together.
Along with the beach restroom building built in 1964, the unique “sail” style pavilion is an iconic landmark at the beach.

2. Nokomis Public Beach
Nokomis Beach is the oldest public beach in Sarasota County. Nokomis Beach Plaza was designed and built by Jack West, a renowned Sarasota School of Architecture graduate, in the 1950’s and renovated in 2008 after years of decay.


Nokomis Beach Drum Circle
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the local drum circle meets informally near the lifeguard tower at Nokomis Beach.
Folks arrive around 6 p.m. every evening, but the time depends on the sunset throughout the year.
A family-friendly drum circle takes place at Nokomis Beach about an hour before sunset. During this party, the audience plays maracas or dances to the drummers’ hypnotic rhythm.
